About ANANDJIRA
We protect, educate and create opportunities
The word "ANANDJIRA" comes from the Sena language and means "street child". It reflects our commitment to restoring dignity, protection and opportunity to vulnerable children and communities.
For two decades we have worked side by side with the communities of Beira, Dondo, Búzi, Nhamatanda, Gorongosa and Marromeu. We began with children living on the streets, and today our work spans early childhood education, community health, water and sanitation, household economic empowerment and the defence of human rights.

We work with communities in six districts of Sofala in three main areas, education, health and water and sanitation, and in cross-cutting areas such as human rights and the fight against gender-based violence.

We believe the first years of life are essential in shaping a child's character, intelligence and confidence. We offer a safe and welcoming environment, attentive care and an approach centred on each child's holistic development.
