Questions
Frequently asked questions
Here are the answers to the questions we hear most often from people who want to volunteer. If yours is not here, get in touch.
01Who can volunteer with ANANDJIRA?
Young people and adults aged 14 and over who want to support children and communities in Sofala. Volunteers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian. You do not need to be a member of the association.
02Do I need experience to volunteer?
No. Every volunteer starts with an orientation on ANANDJIRA, fieldwork and our child protection rules. Above all we value commitment, responsibility and respect for the communities. If you have a background in health, education, communication, IT or finance, tell us in the form: it helps us find the right area for you.
03How much time do I need to give?
As much as you can, as long as it is regular and agreed with the team. Some volunteers help at weekends, some a few days a week and some only in one-off activities such as campaigns, events and emergency responses. Tell us your availability in the form and we will fit the tasks to it.
04Which areas can I help in?
In the association's areas of work: education (including the Criança Feliz e Inteligente preschool), community health, water and sanitation, human rights and protection, economic empowerment and emergency response. We also need help with communication and photography, and with administration and finance.
05What happens after I apply?
Our team reads your application and contacts you by phone or WhatsApp for a conversation. You then take part in the initial orientation, and we agree on your area, schedule and location before you start.
06Do I have to live in Beira?
Fieldwork takes place mainly in Beira, Dondo and Búzi. If you live elsewhere, you can help remotely with tasks such as communication, design, translation or preparing documents. Tell us in the form what you would like to do.
07Is volunteering paid?
No. Volunteering is a free, solidarity-based contribution. The conditions of each activity, such as schedule, location and travel, are agreed with you before you start.
08What rules do I have to follow?
All volunteers follow the ANANDJIRA code of conduct. This means respecting children and families, following the child protection rules, not sharing photos or personal data without permission, and representing the association responsibly.
09How is my data handled?
The data in the form is used only to manage your application and your volunteering. It is not shared with third parties. You can ask to see or delete it at any time by writing to info@anandjira.org, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
