About this area

Why this area matters

Through community savings and rotating credit groups (PCR), low-income families – mostly women – save small amounts regularly and gain access to rotating micro-loans for small businesses, food, housing and other needs.

The groups are spaces of solidarity and trust that strengthen collective organisation and help families withstand crises such as the El Niño-induced drought.

What we do

Main interventions

Concrete actions we carry out with communities, schools and partners.

  • Savings and rotating credit groups

Families who save together and lend small amounts to each other, with simple rules.

  • Women's economic empowerment

Training and support so that women earn their own income and have a say in decisions.

  • Small income-generating businesses

Business ideas, planning and follow-up in the first months.

  • Financial education for families

Household budgeting, saving and responsible use of money.

Our approach

How we work in each area

  1. 1

    Listen to communities

We start from the needs identified with families, local leaders and schools.

  2. 2

    Act with local partners

We work with the authorities, schools, health facilities and other organisations.

  3. 3

    Follow up closely

Our volunteers and staff follow each child, family and group in the field.

  4. 4

    Be accountable

We measure results and share reports with partners and the community.
